I’d like to be the first to welcome you to our corner of the blogosphere, an address I hope will provide you with rejuvenation and inspiration for living a balanced life. I’m Pandora de Balthazár, and my aim is to help readers experience wellness, balance, beauty, romance and nurturing. My desire to do so stems from my own encounters with challenges, large and small. I hope you will let me know when you particularly enjoy a post along the way so that I will learn when I’m hitting the right notes.
When Passion is Your Guide
I have developed a strong belief in enjoying the beauty of life—in fact, this is a philosophy I have embraced wholeheartedly. Passion guides my creativity and my interests are focused though varied—from vintage textiles and antique linens, custom embroideries, decorative pillows and panels, and fine laces to a sleep system I’ve developed to bring nurturing and healing to those in need of these life-enhancing treatments. You might say most of the energy I put into my work is centered upon restfulness, and you would be right.
If you would like to know more about how I developed a passion for creating products that foster health in human beings, my About Page tells the story. I will be sharing ideas aplenty here on the Pandora de Balthazár Experience so I believe you will find something of interest whether you are searching for tips on healing, ideas about nesting, travel inspirations, or hoping to learn about intriguing ways to decorate with fine textiles, which I have recently learned has greater investment returns than most people realize—it’s a subject dubbed emotional assets. I’ll also be taking a look at the latest trends in spa rejuvenation, entertaining and the all-important life-work balance.
Living a Balanced Life
Speaking of this very delicate dance, did you know that researches have discovered it’s difficult to see business burnout coming when you’re involved in work you’re passionate about? I have experienced this firsthand so I read this astute article on Fast Company, which describes how seven entrepreneurs experienced the life-work challenge, with great interest. One of the CEO’s the magazine featured is Angela Benton, the cofounder of NewME, who righted the imbalance in her life by meditating for 20 minutes every morning. This helped her to stay centered and focused, both invaluable emotional assets when life is supremely hectic.
As a successful female entrepreneur, I felt the same thrill Angela did as I was building a business as a corporate financial planner for over 30 years. My tipping point toward a more mindful way of living came by way of an accident that left me facing months of rehabilitation from a broken neck. This period forced me to embrace a life-changing journey that I am still navigating today. Like Angela, I spend my mornings ruminating about the day ahead and centering myself toward my goals. I do so from bed, nestled into my European Sleep System, each ergonomic pillow and comforter filled with Hungarian goose down. The hand-loomed bespoke bedding has a calming effect that launches me into each day feeling steady and poised.
I would encourage anyone wrestling with chronic stress to find the remedy that feels the most soothing as a personal quest. Jane Wurwand, the founder of Dermalogica and FITE, also featured in the Fast Company article, takes long baths with stress relief oils. I, too, turn to the bathtub when the world’s noise has grown too disconcerting, the Organic Lavender Sea Salt Scrub and Organic Aromatherapy Lavender Essential Oil I’ve developed true turn-down-the volume moves I have incorporated into my routine.
Do you have any de-stressing tips you’d like to share? I’d love to know your secrets to living a healthy, balanced life so leave a comment if you have a moment, okay?
